The Wedding of Kelly & James - Matfen Hall - Northumberland

Kelly & James were married at Matfen Hall last Friday. I don't think I have met a bride quite so excited about her wedding, Kelly has been counting down the sleeps for months now. I was so pleased the weather guys got it wrong & it was glorious even though Kelly did say she didn't mind a little bit rain.

The bridesmaids wore olive green dresses which really complimented the ushers in their brown suits & accompanied by flower girl Lauren & Daniel their son who was page boy.

I worked alongside a videographer they booked 'Hillman Productions' who I found really professional & a very nice guy.

During the break in the evening reception I managed to get some time alone with Kelly & James & have the chance to be a bit more creative using flashguns, after I was almost done I just happened to turn around & notice the sky as the sun was sinking behind the horizon, the church & trees were silhouetted against the sky & so we quickly ran over to the spot I wanted & with a bit of backlight got my shot to end a perfect day.

Here are just some of the images taken from the wedding of Kelly & James.

Fiona & Phil - Matfen Hall

It's been a while since I could get anything blogged due to having no mac but now I'm back in the real world & can now show you just a handful of images from the lovely Fiona & Phil's wedding!

The wedding was held at the gorgeous Matfen Hall in Northumberland. Fiona originally from the Northeast & Phil from Scotland met at university 10 years ago & now live in the beautiful city of York.

On arriving at Matfen the sun shone & the sky was a deep blue with a mist hanging over the golf course, it looked quite magical.

It was a pleasure to see the boys in kilts & the Scottish theme taken right down to the flowers & table decorations, along with a piper playing throughout.

After the ceremony & the group shots we managed to get outdoors for some shots of the couple in the grounds before dusk, the autumn leaves made great backdrops of colour for these shots & I think they both felt it was nice just to get away for a short time.

Fiona & Phil are a match made in heaven, they are so well bonded & suited for each other, their energy, warmth & love for life brings a smile to anyone in their company.

Here are just a few of the images from their day.

The Wedding of Amy & Andrew - Matfen Hall

The wedding was held at the gorgeous Matfen Hall. Sadly though the weather wasn't good, it was a dark, wet & windy day. Still this didn't dampen their spirits & the day flowed perfectly.

Right on cue as they sat down to the wedding breakfast the clouds cleared leaving a deep blue sky & then bang on cue again when they had finished it rained.

The evening reception was split with a casino in the great hall & a disco downstairs in the basement. As you can imagine the casino was a great hit with the the guys.

Amy & Andrew left for bonny Scotland for their honeymoon & I hope the weather was a bit kinder for them.

Jamie & Steven's Wedding - London

Well this wedding has to be one of the most interesting I have ever had the honour to photograph. This being my first traditional Chinese wedding was just full of colour & excitement.

The traditions started with the hair combing ceremony the night before. Like any English wedding it is unlucky for the bride & groom to see each other the night before the wedding. There is a red candle lit & it's tradition that the they can't leave the building until the candle has burnt out.

The following day started at Jamies apartment with the door games. This is all about how worthy the groom is to meet his soon to be bride. The groom & his groomsmen have to pass certain tests by playing games. It was extremely funny to watch. So after Steven had proved his worth for Jamie he & the guys were allowed in & were met by Jamie & her father. They then proceeded with the tea ceremony (which again was so interesting to watch). Jamie & Steven presented their elders (parents, older siblings, uncles & aunts) with tea & then Jamie was given gold jewellery for luck along with red pocket. The younger siblings then gave tea to Jamie & Steven. After lunch we all headed over to the famous Chelsea town hall for the civil ceremony.

Jamie & Steven gave me 3 hours to photograph them around the beautiful city of London that afternoon. I managed to drag Steven's friend Michael along for the trip to assist in the lighting (thanks Michael)!!! We jumped into a cab & drove down to southbank (which was rather busy) then every now & then we'd stop for pics then jump in a cab & head off somewhere else. London has so much colour & gorgeous architecture, I was spoilt for choice & could have gone on shooting for a lot longer but we had to get to the restaurant where all the guests were waiting to congratulate the happy couple.

A huge thanks to Jamie & Steven for such a great day & such an interesting wedding :-)

Here are just some of the pics from their day.
